Metallurgical Plant Manufacturing

Metallurgical plants: business opportunities in a sluggish market
The market environment in metallurgical plant and rolling mill manufacturing will remain difficult in 2017. Over-capacities and low prices are squeezing the steel manufacturers. The situation is made worse by macroeconomic and geopolitical challenges that cannot be solved in the short term.

Power stations

Global demand for large-scale fossil-fueled power stations fell back in large parts of the world once again in 2016. However, in some industrialized countries and steam-fired power stations are still in demand, as a bridging technology during the transition to the post-fossil era.

Hydro power stations

Compared to the previous two years, where there was a net capacity increase of 31.7 GW (gigawatts) and 33.7 GW, the expectation for 2017 is that growth in the hydro power station market will be significantly lower, at around 20 GW.

Chemical Plant Manufacturing

The outsourcing of production capacities in the chemical industry continued in 2016. Investments implemented were largely restricted to selected new construction projects and to modernizations.

Pulp and paper plants

Paper consumption will continue to grow modestly in the coming years. The estimated increase in production for 2017 is 0.9 %, with the strongest growth being anticipated in cardboard and packaging and tissue.

Waste to eneryg plants

Worldwide, there are over 1,200 waste to energy plants operating in over 40 countries, thermally treating non-recyclable waste reliably and to high technical standards.
